How to play against Zilean

Lane and teamfight rules that hold regardless of your pick.

In lane and in teamfights

1. Push the wave early and make him last-hit under tower. Zilean lacks strong early threat when he is forced to farm instead of poke.
2. Punish missed Q by stepping forward before the next bomb cycle. His lane control drops when he cannot threaten a double Q.
3. Avoid chasing too far when he is nearby. His speed boost turns overextended picks into long-distance collapses.
4. Force him to use ult before your main damage commits. Switch targets or pause damage until the revive window ends.
5. Bait ult on a low-value target, then reset the fight. Zilean is much easier to beat when the revive is down before the carry is threatened.

Where Zilean is weak

Exploit these in draft and in lane.

• Zilean contributes little direct damage, so teams that survive his revive can outmuscle his utility.
• Zilean protects one priority target at a time, making split threats and target swaps stretch his cooldowns.
