How to Play Karthus
Champion-specific pre-match tips
Gameplay tips on Summoner's Rift
Lane Phase
Position your Q slightly behind the enemy champion, ensuring it misses the minion wave to trigger the double isolation damage.
Lane Phase
Last hit minions using auto-attacks or single-target Qs while your E is toggled off to trigger its passive mana restore.
Lane Phase
Pan your camera to side lanes immediately upon reaching level 6 to look for an ult cast from under your tower, ensuring the long channel cannot be interrupted.
Mid Game
Cast W across narrow jungle chokepoints before a skirmish to shred enemy magic resist and slow targets for guaranteed Q hits.
Mid Game
Cast Q twice while your E burns after dying in a skirmish, then immediately channel your ult during the final three seconds of your passive.
Mid Game
Toggle E off the moment you finish clearing a wave or objective to avoid draining your mana pool before the next fight breaks out.
Late Game
Flash directly onto the enemy backline with E active during objective standoffs, forcing them to either concede space or kill you and fight inside your passive zone.
Late Game
Channel your ult from a safe distance just before a major objective fight begins to force the enemy team to contest with a massive health disadvantage.
Late Game
Place your W across the objective pit entrance when the monster drops below 3000 health to slow incoming enemies and zone them off the steal.

Gameplay tips in Arena
- Place W across the enemy retreat, keep E active only while both targets are near, and land isolated Qs from behind your partner. Use R after defensive shields or heals are committed.
- Build Blackfire Torch, Liandry's Torment, Rabadon's Deathcap, and Detonation Orb. Burn and mana support uninterrupted pressure; Zhonya's can force enemies to remain in E.
- Prioritize Infernal Conduit, Magic Missile, Jeweled Gauntlet, and It's Killing Time. Persistent damage and a protected passive cast matter more than risky close-range Qs.
