How to play against Thresh

Lane and teamfight rules that hold regardless of your pick.

In lane and in teamfights

1. Punish missed Q immediately; walk forward while his main threat is on cooldown.
2. Stand behind minions and keep diagonal movement so his Q cannot line up cleanly.
3. Clear vision before entering river, because fog turns his Q into picks before objectives.
4. Block or bait Q before committing, then collapse while his peel is weaker.
5. Protect carries from Flash engages by holding peel until he steps forward.

Where Thresh is weak

Exploit these in draft and in lane.

• Thresh's engage depends on landing narrow hooks, so minion cover and diagonal spacing reduce his pick threat.
• Thresh is punishable when he steps forward to threaten lantern plays because he lacks true tank durability.
