How to play against Varus

Lane and teamfight rules that hold regardless of your pick.

In lane and in teamfights

1. Stand outside the minion line after he charges Q so he must choose wave or damage.
2. Trade after he spends E, then disengage before stacked passive autos become lethal.
3. Dodge sideways before committing through river; his linear Q and R punish straight entries.
4. Force his Flash or R before objectives, then re-engage while he lacks self-peel.
5. Spread before R so it cannot chain through your team.

Where Varus is weak

Exploit these in draft and in lane.

• Varus has no mobility, so flank pressure and layered engage punish him once his root is forced.
• Varus often needs setup time for poke or Blight stacks, making rushed fights disrupt his damage pattern.
