How to play against Azir

Lane and teamfight rules that hold regardless of your pick.

In lane and in teamfights

1. Trade when he steps into an auto animation for last hits, then back away before soldiers can keep hitting.
2. Contest the first waves so he cannot build a slow push and poke freely under your turret.
3. Engage after R is down or when he spends spells on the wave; his self-peel is the main barrier to killing him.
4. Avoid rotating through narrow river paths without vision, because his R turns clustered entries into losing fights.
5. Track his soldier line before starting a fight; approach from an angle that does not let R push your carries into his team.

Where Azir is weak

Exploit these in draft and in lane.

• Azir needs soldiers set up before dealing damage, so sudden engage can reach him before his zone is built.
• His scaling and precision demands make early pressure and mana strain punish mistakes before his sustained damage takes over.
